This painting was born out of a portrait of Abuelita Magdalena the eldest grandmother of the Ruk Ux Ulew Cacao Collective, . Eddie is deeply honored to channel a work that seeks to convey the wisdom and knowledge woven into the Mayan cosmovision. This sacred tree fruit, cacao was so valued it was used as currency and incorporated into ceremony and divination. Abuelita Magdalena embodies an ancient lineage and way of life in which cacao was woven into daily rituals and used to navigate the energies of the Mayan calendar. Cacao is regarded as a gentle plant teacher; like a grandmother, it carries a heartful, gentle grace that invites the heart to open, allows emotions to surface, and supports healing and transformation.
