Ma Kali original Painting
This painting of Maa Kali is a reflective journey on death, purification, and humility. The painting marks the end of a great chapter of transformation through suffering into healing and realization. I started this piece in the midst of a deep blood infection that I had been struggling with over the last couple years living in Lake Atítlan. Last year around this time I had sores all over my legs that wouldn’t heal or stop pussing. To make things worse we moved to a new area on the lake and our favorite Dog was poisoned on the first week we arrived. I was super down and super sick Death was in the air. I needed a miracle or a deep death that would catalyze my rebirth. Through meditation and intuition I received Kali Ma as my next subject matter. A wrathful protective godess who manifested from Durga third eye to slay the demon Rakta bija who was undefeated
Kali slayed the demon by cutting his head and drinking his blood from a a skull cup. Racta bisha was undeafted because he had a boon where every drop of blood that touched the ground created a spawn of identical strength creating an invincible army. The theme of blood purification plays heavily in the story where the demond blood respesents the endless cycle of desire and how when we seek to satisfy one another desire appears that is equally as strong. She demonstrates the alchemy of ultimate purification by consuming all of the demons blood to end its life. Kali ma reminds us of purification as a constant practice or we will grow sick and die. The yielding of the divine masculine to the sacred rage of the divine feminine so the world is not destroyed. Finally she represents time and the inevitability of our death that will lead to our ultimate liberation. Now as the painting is completed recieving its final paint stroked I feel so much gratitude in my heart to sharing this story from the moutains of Costa Rica where we are feeling on the other side of the infection drama and thriving with clean water. Jai Kali Ma for guiding me through such a intense initiation where I feel like I have reached an deeper connection with Shri Hari God Creator and have acquired a greater appreaction for this miracle of life.
